Shop Update: New Shabby Chic Fabric Flowers

Burlap, Tulle and Lace Flowers
Curtsey Boutique
This past week I've added a bunch of new Shabby Chic flowers to the shop.  They combine some of my favorite things - burlap, lace, pearls, tulle and ruffles - lots and lots of ruffles.

They would be perfect on layouts, cards, packaging as hair clips or on headbands. They can be made in a wide variety of fabrics or custom ordered to match the outfit or occasion of your choice.

Holiday Treat Bags for the Kids

Treat Bag by Alyssa McGrew
Curtsey Boutique DT

Design Team Leader, Alyssa McGrew has come up with a fun quick way to dazzle our dear little ones. They also showcase the 3x4 treat bags that will be listed later this week in the shop.

I love the elegance of simple silver wrapping paper, but it seemed a little stark for a children's gift.  So I decided to dress up my packages a little with treat bags made using a few items from the shop.  I love how they turned out, and I'm pretty certain that little hands will have a hard time resisting these gifts under the tree!

Shop Update: Paper Rosettes, Air Mail Envelopes and Baker's Twine

Christmas Air Mail Envelopes
Curtsey Boutique
Whether you are in need of last minute packaging for your Christmas gifts or fun winter embellishments for layouts and cards this week's shop update is chock full of items to check off your wish list.

My favorite new item is the Christmas Air Mail Envelopes. They are "post marked" from the North pole and have a cute peek a boo window on the front and fun red and white baker's twine closure on the back. These are great for cookies, candies or other small gifts.

We've also started carrying baker's twine at very reasonable rates - only 75 cents for 10 yards. We currently carry red and brown, but will be adding more colors in the future.

Advent Calendar by Wood and Grain

Wood and Grain Advent Calendar
featuring Curtsey Boutique 2x2x2 boxes

I love seeing what customers create with products from my shop, the Curtsey Boutique.

This weekend while surfing the web I came across this beautiful advent calendar on the amazing Wood and Grain blog. They used our 2x2x2 pinstripe craft boxes, a soda crate, baker's twine and amazing wood embellishments to create a "grown up" advent calendar.

Vintage Party Hat Digital Freebie, Clip Art

Christmas Parties are in full swing and New Year's ones won't be far behind. I found this fun image of adults sporting party hats in a 1920 Sear's catalog. The ole' folks sure knew how to take it up a notch back then!

I intended to use this image for a Christmas Party invite, but we had a birthday party to go to this weekend and it was a great fit for a tag as well.

The colored graphics are from Glitz Design's Hoopla Collection and are available on Jessica Sprague. As with all of her digital artwork - the entire Hoopla collection is 40% off until the end of the year.

The digital stamp of the party hat wearing hipsters is free for you to use for CU, S4H, or PU so long as you link back to the blog.

Operation Write Home Card #2

Operation Write Home Cards
Curtsey Boutique

This is the second card I will be teaching Thursday night at my church for our Operation Write Home service project.  Once more I did two versions of the card to figure out what I liked best. I ended up choosing the card on the left with the white card stock base.

As most of these cards will make it into the hands of guys, I wanted to do something that a guy might actually pick out in the store and I love that the gray in these pattern papers "boys" up the cards a bit. I also wanted something that would appeal to soldiers of a variety of denominations without offending anyone - hopefully I hit the mark.

The card is pretty simple by necessity as we have to make so many on a budget. I think the baker's twine wrapped in these vintage buttons I found at the Thrift Store is a nice dressy touch for just a few pennies. I got over 500 of the red buttons for $5.00 - a super find as buttons can be pricy.  I've once again used my Swiss Dots embossing folder and pulled out the details with a bit of inking.

Operation Write Home Christmas Card #1

Operation Write Home Card #1
Curtsey Boutique
If you've followed the blog at all you know I'm a great admirer of solider focused charities. This week I'll be teaching a class for women in my church and we'll be making 100 cards for Operation Write Home. As a former Army wife - I LOVE the founding principle of this organization. Sending handmade cards to soliders that they can than send home to their loved ones.

I went with two different card designs - here is the first. (I made two versions and settled on the one with the yellow star.)  I'll be sharing the second design with you on Wednesday.

I'm loving felt die cuts on all my projects lately - such pretty texture and dimension. This holly embossing folder is one of my favorites as well.

If you'd like to put your cards in the hands of our heroes visit the Operation Write Home site HERE

Have a lovely day,

CarrieAnne
