DT Call Reminder and A Visa Trip with Alyssa McGrew

It's Friday!  Welcome to the weekend.  First up today is a quick reminder that our Design Team Call ends on Sunday.  We are enjoying all of the incoming applications and can't wait to see yours!  All the details can be found HERE.

We also have a layout to share today from DT Coordinator Alyssa.  Alyssa is currently living in Eastern Europe, and created this layout to commemorate the last day of travel required to secure their family visas.  Since photos are not permitted at most embassy locations, Alyssa cleverly created the layout with photos of the hotel breakfast her family enjoyed prior to picking up the new visas.

Alyssa started with a bold background paper, then used one of our 6-inch doilies to create a clean space on  which to build her title.  The book page stars from the shop add lots of interest while allowing this page to still feel almost monochromatic.

Thanks for coming by today!  Check out all the new additions and everyday staples in the shop by clicking HERE.

Project Life Week #1 with CarrieAnne

Week #1 Project Life Layout
Curtsey Botuique Designer
CarrieAnne DeLoach

One of my New Year's resolutions is to successfully complete a Project Life album this year.  One thing that has always gotten in my way in the past is my dislike of my handwriting. I could of course print everything on the computer, but that has a tendancy to stop my momentum and than the layout stalls and than it just doesn't get finished.

So this year, I've decided to get over it - my handwriting, is my handwriting and that's that!  I love how easy our shipping tags make journaling and there are a few of them and our mini library cards on this layout.

This week was quite busy for us as we had out of town family visiting, a trip to a friends for New Year's Dinner, unpacking tons of boxes at our new house, football bowl games to watch and a trip to the Varsity - an Atlanta diner that is a landmark.

Our baker's twine in red and white or black and white makes tying these tags to any parcel sweet and easy.

Wood Berry Basket Smore Kit By Jess Mutty

I know the blog has been quiet for a bit and the shop was on vacation, but our doors are once more open and the blog up and going.

What better way to celebrate the dog days of summer than with Jess' sweet embellished berry basket?

****************************

I go to a lot of BBQs in the summer and sometimes I get tired of the same old hostess gifts.  Sure, we all love a bottle of wine but why not stand out with something a little more unique?

My S'mores Kit is adorable, inexpensive, and quick to assemble. And I bet the recipient will squeal with delight when she sees it!  All you need are some Curtsey Boutique supplies and your s'mores ingredients, of course.

The grahams are in a flat glassine envelope and tied with twine and a chalkboard label tag.  Then a classic Hershey's chocolate bar. The marshmallows go in the front, in a gusseted glassine bag, folded over and stapled, and topped with a glitter star, accordion circle, and a wood button.  Everything nestles nicely into a sweet wood berry basket with a seam binding bow.

DIY Shabby Chic Burlap Gift Bags for Christmas

DIY Burlap Gift Bags for Christmas Kits
Curtsey Boutique
These burlap bags were added to the shop today and I can think of SO many things I can't wait to do with them. At 4 x 6 " they are perfect for gift cards or other small treats. I think these will be what I give my girl's teachers gift cards in for the holidays.

One of my favorite parts of the above project is the corrugated and glittered die cut stars! So pretty when paired with lace, pearls and seam binding.

In case you love pretty, but are pretty busy you can but a kit to make the gift bag shown above. The belly band is already made complete with the wonderful full seam binding bow. All you have to do is slide it on the bag, insert your gift and tie a knot with the seam binding. Leave the tails as long ar short as you like, but once the belly band is slid into place the bow and seam binding tails match up for a seamless and complete look.

If you rather create you own wonderful design you can purchase the bags plain. They are fantastic when stenciled, painted, glittered, stamped on or embellished with paper, lace, felt and tulle!

Have a lovely day, CarrieAnne
