Doilies on Layouts with Lisa Spiegel

Doilies on Layouts
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Lisa Spiegel
Lisa loved using Curtsey Boutique products on her layouts.  They add so much depth to simple paper products. For this layout, she used the White 4" Doilies, the Yellow Dyed Doilies, a Polka Dot Embossed Glassine Bag, a yellow library card, yellow twine, cream seam binding, a cream felt flower (that she misted green), a heart stick pin, a Shabby Chic vintage mini clothes pin and a Shabby Chic wood button.  All of these products make for one pretty layout!!

Vintage Envelope Project with Rebekah Faries

Check out today's gorgeous project from DT Member Rebekah Faries!  Rebekah created these envelopes as a multi-function greeting card or gift card wrapper to keep on hand for a variety of last-minute needs.  The envelopes contain a simple die-cut sentiment that is appropriate for a variety of occasions, making this project perfect for weddings, baby showers, love notes, and more.

Rebekah wrapped some of our Glassine Envelopes with 5-Inch Doilies, then embellished them using Baker's Twine and buttons.  The result is completely charming, don't you think?

My Girl Layout with Jenifer Cowels

Today we have a gorgeous layout from Jenifer Cowels to share with you.  Jenifer shared with us some thoughts about this layout:

"I love the way this layout came together.  It was a fast one only took about 30 minutes which is super fast for me, I have been known to spend an entire weekend on a layout to get it just right.  After the mist dried I went to work and my little focal cluster came together beautifully."

We couldn't agree more.  This layout is perfection!

Here are the shop products Jenifer used:

Christmas Hybrid Card with Jenifer Cowles

Today we are taking a peek at a lovely holiday card created by Jenifer Cowles.  Jenifer says, "I created a hybrid Christmas card that I plan to send to Grandparents with the kids school pictures and little notes from each of the kids tucked into each bag."

Jenifer used our paper straws from the shop to bind a series of glassine envelopes together with baker's twine.  What a genius idea (and so festive!).

Jenifer decorated the front of her card with a snowflake rosette and doilies from the shop.  After decorating the envelopes with more goodies from the shop, she asked her kids to write special notes to their grandparents and tucked them inside the envelopes.  What a brilliant holiday keepsake for grandparents!

Thanks for taking a peek today!  To see more of Jenifer's work, please visit her blog by clicking on her picture below.

Mason Jar Treat Bags - Halloween Themed

Mason Jar Treat Bags
Curtsey Boutique
I've had this idea floating around in my mind for some time. I wanted to turn the glassine bags I offer in the shop into Mason Jar Treat holders. I think they turned out cute. I really like the hint of baker's twine accenting the buttons and who doesn't love seam binding.  Its available in so many colors!  This seam binding is vintage and was a wonderful treat my mom found for me in a thrift shop.

Just think of all the fun treats that could go inside:

Jelly Beans
Almonds
M & M's
Candy Corn
Gummy Bears
Skittles
Mints
and on and on, and on!

To fill the bags, you just slide the topper off, toss in a handful of yummy treats and slide the topper back on. I adhere the topper to the bags by gently holding up the scallop edge and adhering to the bag with either glue dots or hot glue.

I'll be handing these out at my church's trunk or treating activity.

I will also be doing these in a Valentine's Day theme for the girls treats at school.

The treats and the bags are available in the shop.

Have a great day,

CarrieAnne

Wood Grain Kraft Bag Packaging Ideas

Curtsey Boutique Wood Grain Kraft Bags and Glassine Polka Dot Bags

I love pretty packaging, and half the fun of running my Etsy shop is embellishing the purchases my lovely shoppers make. These Medium Kraft Bags embossed with a wood grain pattern are now available in the shop and they look sweet with the Polka Dot embossed Glassine Bags.

This parcel is for a sweet bride who purchased some of my fancy blooms and had me turn them into hair clips for her. I think everything about a woman's wedding should be fancy - why not her packaging to?

I used hot glue to adhere the tops of each bag back and to adhere the Polka Dot Glassine Bag to the Wood Grain Kraft Bag.

The doily is one of my Raspberry Tea hand dyed doilies. The lace and flower embellished dress forms and grid labels will be available in the shop soon as well.

Here are the links if you'd like to do some shopping!

Scrapping Summer Vacation (from last year)

Curtsey Boutique Disney "Family Fun" Glassine Bag

The weather is warm, the sun is shining and I'm dusting off my suitcases in preparation of participating in that most noble of American traditions - the road trip. I'd love to smack (I mean shake the hand) of the man who thought this one up. I know it wasn't a woman. What woman said you know what makes family fun time amazing:

Pit stops in the middle of no where with gas stations that look like they came from an Alfred Hitchcock movie.

Campgrounds that have very loose definitions of the words "private showers"

and

Theme parks which cost more than the Gross National Product of Liberia.

I know I'm whining, but I'll probably have fun on my two day road trip to Indiana - right? 10 hours in the card with 4 kids, piece of cake.

I can hear the snickers already so stop it!

With this in mind, I've been crafting vacation themed embellishments and pages this week. I'd love to say I'm getting ahead for this Summer, but the truth is I'm shamefacedly still scrapping last Summer. I hope to share a couple of Project Life layouts with you next week from our trip to New England and to Disney.

This year we are heading to Indiana (in fact we are heading out next Friday) so I thought I better get those pictures in books before they become lost in the ever growing pile of photos on my scrap table.

Curtsey Boutique Disney Label Journaling Cards

For our Disney trip I put together a few following journaling cards and a cute glassine bag to hold our ticket stubs and other bits of memorabilia.

The labels are available in the shop here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/101184628/disney-journaling-labels-stickers-for

and the medium sized glassine bag embossed with polka dots can be found here:  https://www.etsy.com/listing/100827237/glassine-bags-embossed-polka-dot-set-of

Planning to hit the road soon,

Dixie Highway Yard Sale & Eating Out Tag Digital Freebie

I supposed that being a historian, it shouldn't be surprising that I love old things. Whether its scraps of lace, old dress forms, embroidered sheets or sheet music - I love old stuff. What's better than loving old stuff? Buying old stuff and altering it!

This weekend my best friend and I are going to be cruising the Dixie Highway Yard sale - 90 miles of yard sale and vintage fun on old highway 41. We are lucky that it starts right here in Marietta!

If you're looking for more information on the Dixie Highway Yard sale here is a link to their facebook page:

Tag Your It!

My 4 year old had a birthday party to attend this past weekend. It kills me to spend an hour to make a card for a child who is just going to trash it, so I made him this cute little tag. What little guy doesn't love space and it has the vintage feel I so enjoy working with.

The shop is now stocking these lovely tags (2 3/8 x 4 3/4) for about .17 a piece. What a deal!  I love that the hole reinforcer is the same color as the tag and that the heavy weight cardstock embosses beautifully. They also have a matte smooth finish, perfect for stamping.

What do you think about the chevron pennant? I've been toying with adding chevron label stickers to the shop. So easy and fun to personalize.

Tags are available in:

I also love that they tuck into our small glassine bags perfectly. A fun way to give a gift cards for teacher gifts or mother's day.

We've almost reached our first mini goal: 100 sales! I'm excited to celebrate our success so far and will be offering giveaways to say thanks for all the support. We also have a bit of a fun partnership in the works, that we hope to share soon.

Thanks for tagging along,
