Apple for the Teacher Card with Rebekah Faries

Apple for the Teacher Card
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Rebekah Faries
Teachers tend to get gifts at the beginning and end of the school year, when parents are happy to send their little ones off on the bus after or a long Summer or when they are excited to have them back after a full year of school.

I love this card that Rebekah has made and think it would be perfect for giving to a teacher now. A kind of "I know you are in the thick of it and we appreciate you" pep talk.

To all the teachers out there who have helped me and my children over the years - thanks so much!

DIY Gold Glitter Striped Muslin Bag Tutorial with Rebekah Faries

DIY Gold Glitter Striped Muslin Bag Tutorial
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Rebekah Faries
Rebekah is big into gift wrapping lately and so for her most recent tutorial she decided to try her hand at decorating bags. Curtsey Boutique muslin bags are perfect for tucking in smaller gifts when you don't feel like wrapping with paper.

Gold seems to be the color of the moment and feathers are fun and everywhere you look in the crafting world.  Today's DIY technique teaches you how to mimic the beautiful gold glitter bands on Rebekah's bag.

The secret is using double sided quick hem tape which can be found in any sewing store.

Regular double sided tape won't stick to fabric well, but quick hem tape is made for fabric and holds beautifully.

1. Simply decide how many bands of color you want, trim to size and adhere.

2. Be sure to rub all over with a bone folder (or your fingers) to guarantee great adhesion of the tape to the fabric.

3. Peel off the protective paper and cover generously with glitter.

4. Press the glitter into the tape before tapping off any excess.

Voila! Mess free bands of yummy gold glitter.

Add Baker's Twine and other embellies to jazz up your bag.

Spring Release Sneak Peek and a Thank You Card by Rebekah Faries

Thank You Kite Card
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Rebekah Faries

This Spring we are adding lots of blue to the shop - blue sequins, blue seam binding, and blue baker's twine.  All of these lovelies will be available in the shop by the end of the week - aren't they pretty?

I love Rebekah's card - the perfect theme for a spring thank you. The loops in her kite's bakers twine tail remind me of the closing scenes of Mary Poppins, I think I know what I'll be doing with my kids this afternoon.

DIY Embroidery Hoop Advent Calendar Tutorial with Rebekah Faries

DIY Embroidery Hoop Advent Calendar Tutorial
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Rebekah Faries

When I opened the front door this morning it was awfully brisk, and my parents up north just got snow! It is hard to believe it is officially Spring. The cool weather had be thinking more of the holidays than the beach, so what better time to reflect back on the delights of wintery weather and share this lovely advent calendar tutorial courtesy of Rebekah?

Project Instructions

1. Paint a large embroidery hoop with white paint.

2. Once dry trace the inside of the hoop onto thick cardboard and cut out making sure it fits snugly inside the hoop.

3. Use cardboard as template to trace onto fabric of your choosing leaving a 2-3 inch border around the
outside.

4. Cover the cardboard circle and secure one side of the fabric to the cardboard circle.
Stretching the fabric around as you go, glue to the backside of the cardboard circle until it is all
glued down and the front side is completely taught and has no wrinkles. Insert into embroidery
hoop

2. Gather envelopes, glassine bags, muslin bags and other items of your choosing making sure
you have 24 in all. Space evenly around your hoop. Embellish your bags and tags with
snowflakes.

* Use washi tape to decorate the bottoms of the white shipping tags. Wrap with twine and stamp
names on them.

*Use die cuts to embellish glassine bags and kraft bags. Use a decorative punch to punch out
the tops of the journal cards.

*Add fun glitter or confetti to glassine bags and secure with washi tape. Secure to your embroidery hoop with thumb tacks.

Man and Wife Card by Rebekah Faries

Man and Wife Card
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Rebekah Faries
It is snowing in Georgia this morning! I can't believe it. For us flurries are a very rare thing - we didn't see a flake last year and I'll be honest I'm no fan of the cold or shoveling.

This lovely card by Rebekah, however just warms my heart and makes up for the dismal weather. Showcasing our corrugated silhouettes and doilies, a sweet shower of confetti hearts are the perfect finishing touch.

Rebekah Faries
It is the season of gratitude. And what better why to share a bit of appreciation than this lovely card Rebekah has made for some of the most important adults in our children's lives - their teachers. I absolutely love the red and white combination and the elegance added by our 5 inch doilies with a pinch of fun in our red and white baker's twine.
