Wedding Gift Box with Jenifer Cowles

I needed a quick box for a wedding I was attending recently and this turned out just perfect.  Using 8 doilies I accordion folded them into quarters and hot glued them onto a circle to make a fun layered doily flower.  I stacked a flower on a button for a center.  A sprig of stamens and some wire string and I was ready to go with a fun custom box in just the colors I needed.

DIY Berry Basket Holder Shadow Box Tutorial with Lisa Spiegel

Berry Basket Holder Tutorial
Original Design : Lisa Spiegel

Lisa shares this ingenious tutorial for creating a shadow box display piece from two of our berry baskets.

1. Cut a slit in the first berry box, then remove the top half of the box following that line.

2. Using twine, tie the basket you cut to another full size basket creating a clam shell appearance.
.

3. Stuff a muslin bag with pillow stuffing and tuck in the bottom basket.  Hot glue red doily to the top basket.

4. Hot glue Fabric Flower, Twine tied button, Felt Flowers and Glassine Leaves punched from Glassine bag to top basket.

5. Fold Glassine bag up two times from the bottom edge.  Use stick pin to attach it to the muslin pin cushion.  Adhere wallet sized photo to the front.

6. Pull apart Red Fabric flower to reveal fabric strip.  Tie around the berry basket and embellish with pins.  Pin Burlap Butterfly to the pin cushion.  Enjoy!

This project uses the same easel frame concept that Andrea used around the holidays for her Christmas decor.

Again she  removed the glass from her  frame and inserted an embossed 5x5 cardstock base to embellish for an updated Wintery theme.

For this framed decor she used a variety of Curtsey Boutique notions including, mini glitter snowflakes, white felt doilies and baker's twine.

Hanukkah Treat Jar with Lisa Spiegel

Hanukkah Treat Jar
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Lisa Spiegel

The first night of Hanukkah was on Wednesday November 27th this year, which is the earliest it has ever or will ever be in my lifetime.  We are celebrating both Thanksgiving and Hanukkah on the same night. I thought it would be fun to come up with a Hanukkah in a Jar kit for the kids.

Inside the mason jar (perfect for kids because it's plastic!) is a set of Hanukkah candles tied in twine, a nice new dreidel, yummy chocolate coins (or gelt), the instructions for the dreidel game printed on photo paper and the words to the prayers for the candles as well as a traditional Hanukkah song.

I stamped a Happy Hanukkah tag, tied it to the lid with seam binding ribbon and added the beautiful felt snowflake to the top of the jar (I love how the middle of the snowflake is the shape of the Star of David!). Each child will have a different top to their jar (as the felt set comes with several different snowflakes) so they can distinguish their jars and can keep all their gelt winnings to themselves!  This was very easy to put together for the kids, and I know they are just going to love having their own Hanukkah Jar!  If anyone would like to make their own Hanukkah jars I would be happy to email them the files for the Dreidel Game and the prayers.  Just leave a comment with your email and I'll get it right out to you.  Happy Thanksgivikuh!
