Framed Winter Decor with Andrea Amu

Framed Winter Decor
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Andrea Amu

This project uses the same easel frame concept that Andrea used around the holidays for her Christmas decor.

Again she  removed the glass from her  frame and inserted an embossed 5x5 cardstock base to embellish for an updated Wintery theme.

For this framed decor she used a variety of Curtsey Boutique notions including, mini glitter snowflakes, white felt doilies and baker's twine.

Christmas Gift Card Holder with Alyssa McGrew

Christmas Gift Card Holder
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Alyssa McGrew

Every now and then, and event comes up that requires a gift card be given.  Gift cards can be very impersonal, though, so I really like to make cards with them that add a personal touch.  In this case, I used some glitter snowflakes from the shop to add some holiday sparkle.  Now, the gift cards I'm giving at Christmas will feel so much more personalized!

Shop Update: Paper Rosettes, Air Mail Envelopes and Baker's Twine

Christmas Air Mail Envelopes
Curtsey Boutique
Whether you are in need of last minute packaging for your Christmas gifts or fun winter embellishments for layouts and cards this week's shop update is chock full of items to check off your wish list.

My favorite new item is the Christmas Air Mail Envelopes. They are "post marked" from the North pole and have a cute peek a boo window on the front and fun red and white baker's twine closure on the back. These are great for cookies, candies or other small gifts.

We've also started carrying baker's twine at very reasonable rates - only 75 cents for 10 yards. We currently carry red and brown, but will be adding more colors in the future.

We have also added two new kinds of paper rosettes - the large snowflake and a vintage map rosette.

Operation Write Home Card #2

Operation Write Home Cards
Curtsey Boutique

This is the second card I will be teaching Thursday night at my church for our Operation Write Home service project.  Once more I did two versions of the card to figure out what I liked best. I ended up choosing the card on the left with the white card stock base.

As most of these cards will make it into the hands of guys, I wanted to do something that a guy might actually pick out in the store and I love that the gray in these pattern papers "boys" up the cards a bit. I also wanted something that would appeal to soldiers of a variety of denominations without offending anyone - hopefully I hit the mark.

The card is pretty simple by necessity as we have to make so many on a budget. I think the baker's twine wrapped in these vintage buttons I found at the Thrift Store is a nice dressy touch for just a few pennies. I got over 500 of the red buttons for $5.00 - a super find as buttons can be pricy.  I've once again used my Swiss Dots embossing folder and pulled out the details with a bit of inking.

Have a lovely day,
