Climbing the Walls Layout with Alyssa McGrew

Climbing the Walls Layout
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Alyssa McGrew

I find scrapping the men in my life to be a bit of a challenge, so I appreciate Alyssa's use of warm colors and patterns that hint at masculinity without being overtly blue or overly themey.

Alyssa uses our book page stars, small tags and cork cars to tell the story of her son's "rugged" out door adventure in a Bulgarian castle.

Gift Card Holder Tutorial with Lisa Spiegel

Today I'm bringing you a Shabby Chic Package Tag or Gift Card Holder you can create using some simple Curtsey Boutique supplies.

You will need:

To create my tag, I first trimmed 1/2 inch off the bottom of the tag, then I wrapped the doily around the shipping tag to create a pocket and glued the flaps down with my tape runner.  I tied seam binding into two bows to embellish the tag. To create the doily flower on the front, I simply pinched the doily together.

Then punched two leaves from the Glassine Bag and attached them to the flower with a mini stapler. I then wrapped the bottom in washi to secure the layers and hide the staple.

This flower was attached to the front of the pocket and I added a couple of paper flowers from my stash as well.

The final touch was a two layer Glassine butterfly that I punched from the bag and stapled together.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Curtsey Boutique Delayed Design Team Announcement

Curtsey Boutique friends, family and supporters,

Duncan Campbell passed away earlier this week. He is the little boy we have been raising funds for with the gold flower campaign.  Duncan was the son of a very close friend of mine and I have been wrapped up in making funeral arrangements this week.

I have not viewed all the Design Team applications. I apologize for the delay. I will review them this weekend following the funeral and notify every designer who applied as to whether or not they made the team as soon as I can.

I am so sorry for the delay and any concern it may have caused.

We so greatly appreciate the many wonderful applications that came in.

Warmest Regards,

CarrieAnne

Hand Warmer Tutorial with Jenifer Cowles

Curtsey Boutique Project Instruction Page
Muslin Bag Hand warmers
Original Design : Jenifer Cowles
Curtsey Boutique Supplies:

With the weather being so cold in most of the country I needed a little bit more to keep my hands warmer than just a pair of gloves.  Using the 4x6 muslin bags from the shop I was able to create these super easy but useful hand warmers.

Project Instructions:
Since this will be heated up in the microwave you don’t want to decorate to heavily.  I stitched a simple heart with bakers twine in the center of my muslin bag.  Fill the bag with 1 cup of rice and stitch the bag closed.  Done!! Now 30 seconds in the microwave you have a little warmer to keep in your coat pocket.  Enjoy.  These would make wonderful gifts.
The Curtsey Boutique is an artisanal shop specializing in handcrafted and supply items that add a touch of whimsy and vintage inspired delight to home decor, crafting, wedding, special events and celebrations of everyday joy.  These project sheets are for the use of our customers and wholesale clients. A Gift Bag with Rebekah Faries

Hi everyone!  Welcome to the new week.  We are in the process of reviewing the amazing DT Call submissions we received, and we will be announcing the new team soon.  Stay tuned!

Today we have an adorable gift bag from DT Member Rebekah to share with you.

Rebekah used our medium glassine bag, red baker's twine, and a rolled felt rose to create this sweet little gift bag, perfect for anyone you love.

This project also contains a sneak peek of an item we are hoping to add to the shop soon: a fabric ampersand!

Check out all the goodies that you need for gift wrapping, wedding favors, and more in our Etsy shop by clicking HERE.

DT Call Reminder and A Visa Trip with Alyssa McGrew

It's Friday!  Welcome to the weekend.  First up today is a quick reminder that our Design Team Call ends on Sunday.  We are enjoying all of the incoming applications and can't wait to see yours!  All the details can be found HERE.

We also have a layout to share today from DT Coordinator Alyssa.  Alyssa is currently living in Eastern Europe, and created this layout to commemorate the last day of travel required to secure their family visas.  Since photos are not permitted at most embassy locations, Alyssa cleverly created the layout with photos of the hotel breakfast her family enjoyed prior to picking up the new visas.

Alyssa started with a bold background paper, then used one of our 6-inch doilies to create a clean space on  which to build her title.  The book page stars from the shop add lots of interest while allowing this page to still feel almost monochromatic.

Thanks for coming by today!  Check out all the new additions and everyday staples in the shop by clicking HERE.

Doing it For Duncan - Limited Time Gold Fabric Flowers - Fundraiser for the Campbell Family and Childhood Cancer Awareness

This is Duncan.

Duncan is adorable.

Duncan is sweet.

Duncan is lovable.

Duncan is valiant.

Duncan is a fighter.

Duncan is 1.

Duncan is dying.

Dying of a horribly rare and deadly kind of brain cancer. A Pineoblastoma  ETANTR.

As far as we know Duncan is the only person to have ever have this specific cancer. EVER.

Duncan has done all the chemo and radiation he can do and his family has now turned to hospice for comfort and peace in his final weeks.

Many times when we are faced with tragedy too large to comprehend we feel helpless.

But right now we CAN DO something for Duncan's family. It won't cure Duncan and it won't alleviate their emotional pain, but IT WILL HELP.

We can raise funds to help with the medical bills and expenses that come with fighting cancer. Funds that will help make this difficult time a bit more bearable. Funds that will show we care.

GOLD is the color signifying Childhood Cancer Awareness.
