He's a Rule Challenger with Alyssa McGrew

Today Alyssa is here sharing a layout made with some of her favorite items from the shop.  Alyssa says:

My son is all boy, often covered in dirt and clutching a bug in his hand (or trying to hide one in his room).  He is also one to challenge the rules.  All the rules.  So, on this layout, I broke a few rules and used flowers and glitter.  He rolled his eyes and shrugged when he saw it, but I really don't think he minded.
Alyssa used burlap stars and glitter stars from the shop to make this adorable layout that has just enough classic boy to make it stand out.

Enjoy 2013 Card by Jess Mutty

Enjoy 2013 Card
by Curtsey Boutique Designer
Jess Mutty

Jess is our featured designer today with this lovely card celebrating the new year.

Happy New Year to all!  I love to make cards for all occasions but sometimes it is refreshing to create a card for some of the holidays that aren't typical "greeting card holidays".  A new year is a fresh start and a great opportunity to send out a little pizzazz!

When I think of New Year's Eve I think of bold colors and sparkle.  The large corrugated silver star is the perfect backdrop for the sentiment and embellishments.  I love how the paper bow looks like it ties right around the star. I layered all of this on top of an embossed tag for a nice pop of color and texture and tied two pieces of seam binding through the hole.

My card is pretty simple but everything I added is bold and festive... I can see this design working for a teen or birthday too!

Christmas Corrugated Glitter Stars

Jolly Holiday Christmas Card
Curtsey Boutique

For years I avoided glitter because of the mess. I couldn't stand having flecks of it everywhere from my hair to my dishes for weeks after working with it.  I've recently come across a glitter corrugated heavyweight cardboard that hardly flakes! Glitter cardboard + die cutter = vintage holiday love!

I made this card with the brand new Carta Bella Christmas line "Christmas Day." So beautiful and just recently it became available via Jessica Sprague in digital format - I love it. I printed all the pieces on my computer and than distressed, layered and inked till I was happy with the result. I of course had to add one of my new glitter stars. They are now available in the shop - as are a ton of other fun glitter shapes.

Have a sparkly night,

CarrieAnne
