Freebie Friday - Free Digital Vintage Stamp - Children Picking Apples

Freebie Friday - Vintage Digital Stamp
Curtsey Boutique
Picking Apples

It cooled down here a bit in Georgia this week, the first whisperings of Fall. This caused my husband to ask when the apples would be ready for picking.  I'm sure they are ready now and what could be sweeter than this 1910 image from The Baldwin Primer?

As always feel free to use for PU, S4H, or CU so long as you link back to the blog.

Have a great weekend,

Freebie Friday
Digital Stamp

My yard is awash with brightly colored birds and the musical sounds of their songs. I'd thought it would be fun to share this early 1920's phonography ad featuring a canary.

For those who just want this sweet little birdie and her phonograph here you go:

I hope you have a lovely Spring weekend,

Freebie Friday - Vintage Digital Freebie - Boys, Airplanes, & Periscopes

Vintage Digital Freebie
Boys and Airplanes
Curtsey Boutique
I just looked at the calendar and realized I hadn't had a Freebie Friday in MONTHS! Time to remedy that. On my most recent trip to my favorite vintage book store I bought a gag gift catalog from the early 1920's. It has really great images for Halloween and the 4th of July, but also a bunch of little boys playing with toys and pulling pranks. I can never get my hands on enough images for my son's scrapbooks so I thought I share a few with you.

The image above is of two little boys playing with model airplanes like those Charles Lindbergh would fly.

This second image is my favorite of the two. It is an advertisement for Dandy Periscopes  Look at all the fun vignettes just waiting to be cropped and used. I guess little boys got in just as much trouble than as now.

As always feel free to use these for PU, CU, and S4H so long as you link back to the blog or follow us.

Have a great weekend,

Thanksgiving Project Life Journaling Cards and Digital Freebie

Design Team Call Information can be found HERE

To Grandmother's House
Journaling Card Freebie
Curtsey Boutique
The weather is very ugh here today.

Very rainy, chilly, gloomy and doomy. Eeyore would be right at home, but its not so good for taking photos of my weekend projects I was hoping to share.

With a cup of hot chocolate and my fuzziest socks, it is perfect weather for me to work on my digital Project Life pages.

We are heading out of town, over the hills and through the woods to grandmother's house on Friday.  For once (mark your calendars this is a first) I've done some Project Life cards BEFORE the event occurred that I know I am going to want to scrap.

These cards pull heavily from the Graphics Fairy. This website is AMAZING if you haven't already visited - you must. The images are all free and Karen does a wonderful job of finding unique and retro artwork. I'm completely smitten by all of her 50's pieces of happy homemakers.

I also used a number of copyrighted images from Jessica Sprague's many different brands including Carina Gardner, Echo Park and Pink Paislee. This means I can only offer the card above for your use, but perhaps those below will inspire you to create something fun of your own!

As always, you may use my digital freebies for CU, S4H or PU so long as you link back to the blog :)

Knowing that all I have to do is drag and drop my photos will make scrapping this holiday easy peasy.

I hope its Sunny where you are,

CarrieAnne

Sweet Baby Journaling Card and Digital Freebie

I've been experiencing some frustrating computer challenges over the last week. The kind that make you want to tear your hair out and scream "Why Me?" in cave-mannish angst.

I do have one more fabric stamping project to share with you - hopefully tomorrow if my offering to the computer gods has sated their fury.

Until than I thought I would share this journaling card. The image of the baby on the scale is from a 1904 McCalls Magazine. I've supplied it just in case you wanted to use it by itself.

Stamping Fabric Covered Brads and Vintage Baby Digital Freebie

Stamping Fabric Covered Buttons
Day 2 here of stamping on fabric. Today I experimented with my I-Top and creating fabric covered brads embellished with my stamps.

There are a myriad of "how to use your I-top" tutorials so I thought adding one more would be silly. Here is a link to Imaginisce's video education series

What I learned about making stamped brads.

1. On an embellishing difficulty scale of 1 to 10, I'd rank these a 2.

2. Stamp your image first on scrap fabric to see how it looks before committing to quality fabric.

3. Be sure that if you are using a focal image and not an all around pattern that the image is centered.

4. Stamp with dark inks.

5. Use patterns that are scaled down and not to busy.

6. If you are using a thin muslin or burlap "double layer" a small piece under the focal image so no metal shows through.

I'm happy with my bowl full of embellishments that will be easily used up on cards, tags and layouts.

In appreciation for your "hanging out with me" this week, I cleaned up the following image of a baby in a primitive "Johnny Jump Up" in an old toy catalog.  As always the image can be used for SH, CU, or PU if you link back to the blog.

Vintage Typewriter Digital Freebie

Curtsey Boutique Typewriter Journaling Card Digital Freebie
I've been playing around in my vintage catalogs again. I came across this Martel typewriter image and turned it into a fun 3x4 embellishment. I think I'll use it on a card or in my Project Life layouts. If you just want the typewriter,  its below.

It is amazing a typewriter once cost only $8.98, even if my inner historian knows that was a lot of money at the turn of the century.

As always, you may use these images for CU, PU, or Scrap for Hire, so long as you link back to the blog.

Peek-A-Boo Embellished Covered Notebooks and Back to School Digital Freebie

Curtsey Boutique Little Red Wagon
Covered Notebook

A few months ago I was stalking Heidi Swapp's blog. I like that her projects are always quick and doable with what you most likely have in your stash. She showcased quick and easy notebooks on this blog post here: http://www.heidiswapp.com/quick-fun-notebook/

A  great video tutorial on how to make the super cute peek - a- boo inside here: http://www.mycraftchannel.com/Shows/Create-to-Remember/Note-Books/

I've been scheming of a way to do one ever since. Que back to school crazyness and the need for a teacher gift. Here's what I came up with. The secret to the inside embellishment is using a punch (any punch will do) to punch a few sheets of paper. Than lay those sheets down as a template, trace and line the punch up - rinse and repeat until all the punching is do. So cute!

All of the embellishments, but the pleated red ribbon are in the "Little Red Wagon" Kit.

I've also included a digital freebie below that you are welcome to use for SH, PU, or CU if you link back to the blog.

Embellish Creatively,

CarrieAnne

Circus Birthday Party Theme & Digital Freebie

Curtsey Boutique Vintage Circus Balloon Lady Party Package

Remember the cowboy party I throw for my son's first birthday? Making the hobby horses, invites, wanted posters and all the other crafty Wild West projects was half the fun of the party itself. I like the idea of having a big shin dig at the end of the Summer every year as an excuse to get all the families in our life together.

This year I am thinking about doing a Vintage Circus theme. Can't you just see tulle tutus, a juggling center and all sorts of neat tight rope walking activities. I might even do some faux animal cages and old timey advertising posters for the photo booth.

That fun is still months away though, and its difficult to wait (enter child like pouting here). So yestereday when  I found these neat vintage inspired Circus products I had to snatch them up.

They go great with the cupcake rosette toppers and cupcake bow ties in the shop and they can all be found in the Curtsey Boutique for purchase individually or as a package here.

I'd love to hear any circus themed party ideas you might have, I'm going to keep track in a notebook and refine my party concept as we get closer.

I made up this vintage inspired Happy Birthday Digital tag using public doman images from old Barnum and Bailey Circus posters. It is free for you to play around with.

Hope all is well in your big top,

Rainy Day Journaling Cards and a Vintage Freebie

Curtsey Boutique Rainy Day Journaling Cards

Here in Georgia the weather has been blissfully balmy over the last few days. I can't imagine we won't be getting a few Spring showers though and so I whipped up a few vintage inspired journaling cards for the puddle splashing opportunities to come. The images come from an early 1920s vintage catalog and show boys, girls and ladies rocking the waterproof fashions of their day.

They each measure 3 X 4 and these cards work with ATCs, Project Life or any scrapbooking project. My favorite is the bingo card with the rain boots in the free space - so fun!

They are available at the Curtsey Boutique in paper format or in digital format.

I've been working on some baby themed images and I thought I would share a bit of vintage digital love.   Isn't this the cutest little girl in an old bib below? Perfect for some many fun things!

Waiting for the puddles,

CarrieAnne

Vintage Sewing Flash Card Freebies

Curtsey Boutique Vintage Fashion Flash Cards

Lately, I've been building quite the hoard of vintage publications, and because my inner historian has threatened my not so inner crafty self with an emotional melt down  I've come to the epiphany that I simply can't cut up a 1909 copy of McCalls. I just can't do it. But I HAVE to use these images!! They are amazing.

So I've been using trial and error (mostly error) to do more with Photoshop and miracle of all miracles I've come up with some Vintage Sewing Flash Cards. I'm planning on doing a whole set from A to Z (any ideas for X?) all about vintage fashion and sewing terms.  Feel free to download the two pictured here for free for personal use. I'll be offering the entire set in the Curtsey Boutique in digital and print in 4x6 and 3x4 for those who like unique Project Life embellishment cards.

Have a fantastic day,

CarrieAnne
