Spackle & Muslin Bag DIY with Jenifer Cowles

Spackle and Muslin Bag Tutorial
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Jenifer Cowles
My Pinterest boards are filled with projects that use texture mediums and stencils, but until today I've been too chicken to try it for myself. Jen is back sharing a super easy project on adding texture to our muslin bags. I can't wait to try this out!

Jenifer placed a stencil over one of our muslin bags. Ensuring it was flat she used regular household spackle (found in any hardware store or even Walmart). She spread a thin and even layer over the stencil with a spatula and then lifted the stencil off.

Allow the spackle to dry completely based on the manufacturer's recommendations and then embellish. Jenifer topped her bag with our ruffled fabric ribbon, clothes pins,  fabric flowers and glitter butterflies.

Best Friends Layout with Tracy McLennon

Sometimes, it doesn't take much to add flair to a layout.  One of the most versatile items in our shop is Mini White Shipping Tags.  These little beauties can be tucked, layered, sprayed, stamped, and distressed to match your style.  Or, add journaling or a title to them and make them a focal point!  In today's layout, Tracy McLennon shows just one of the uses for these little gems.

Birthday Tag Bag with Jenifer Cowels

Jenifer Cowels had this to say about today's gorgeous project: "I needed a fun way to give a little gift card.  I put together this little bag/tag/card, the tag slides in and you could adhere a gift card to it and still have enough room to write a greeting and note.  I am so happy with how this turned out I know I will be making more in my future."

Thanks for sharing this beautiful project with us, Jenifer!

Soap Bag with Connie Mercer

Today's gorgeous vintage-style technique comes from DT Member Connie Mercer.  Connie stamped on one of our muslin bags with Ranger Archival Ink and a Darkroom Door stamp to create this one-of a kind bag.  Once she embellished it with sunny seam binding, some vintage trims, and a burlap butterfly, Connie added a bar of sweet smelling soap and had the perfect gift to make a friend's day brighter.  On the other hand, this project may just be too gorgeous to give away!

Cherish Layout with Kat Benjamin

Sometimes, a few choice embellishments are all you need.  In this layout, Kat Benjamin uses simple layers masterfully to frame a fantastic photo.  One of our favorite elements is the inclusion of the chalkboard tag, which really balances and draws attention to the bold title work.

Kat used these embellishments from our shop:
Glitter Butterflies

Assortment of shipping tags

Heart Straight Pins

Hand-dyed Doilies

Chalkboard Tags
